Tasting Notes: Girolamo Russo’s Etna Rosso A’Rina has become a benchmark wine from Sicily. The supple red-fruit notes of the local Nerello Mascalese grape are pitched against an earthy and electric structure showcasing the amazing terroir from the volcanic soils of Mt. Etna. This is the perfect introduction to the red wines of Mt. Etna and pairs excellently with a variety of dishes from BBQ to swordfish.  

Estate History: The Girolamo Russo estate was founded in 2005 by Giuseppe Russo, in memory of his late father.Their vineyards are planted 650-780 meters above sea level on the ancient lava flows of Mount Etna in Sicily. Ranging in age from 60-100 years old, they draw their minerals from underground volcanic water pockets. These water pockets also keep the vines hydrated during the intense Sicilian Summer. Everything is done by hand, and Giuseppe works the vineyards organically and makes the wines himself. He vinifies each parcel separately, seeking out their individual identities in a series of wines that reflect the diverse character of their terroirs.
